Local Job Cuts in Education

My sister is a curriculum director at a school in my district. A week ago she told me the school is preparing to lay off two full-time teachers or five part-time teachers. During a down economy, a down real estate market in particular, property taxes are short. In Iowa, property taxes are the primary source of funding for public education. So all the schools are planning ahead for the reduced operating budget.
