'acore' process crashes in Android 1.5

On my brand new myTouch 3G, I could not dial my sister's mobile phone.

The problem was directly related to the Contacts app. I could not view any of my sister's information. So I used my laptop to review my sister's data in the Contacts view of Gmail in the Firefox web browser. There, I noticed I had defined a Instant Messenger username with the incorrect type. I corrected it, re-synced my contacts on my phone, and now it works fine.

To confirm that fix, I found another person in my contacts that also had an incorrect type set for a instant messaging username. The acore process crashed for that person as well on my phone. And after I corrected her information in Firefox, and re-synced my phone, then I was able to view the information for that person on my phone; the acore process stopped crashing.

In summary, for Android 1.5, if a person has a instant messenger username set, then the type must also be set and set correctly.

USPS insured mail

Today I learned that the USPS puts a big bright blue sticker on insured packages to show that the value is over $200. Brilliant. Way to draw attention to it. So if any USPS employees want to snatch a package, they just have to look for the blue sticker.

Another nightmare

Early this morning I woke up to another nightmare. This one was not at 2 am like usual. Rather, it was much closer to the time I usually wake up to an alarm clock.

It was the basement of a hotel in the mid 1960's. Malcolm X was in bed with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s wife. They weren't doing the nasty; they were a couple. They were in hostile territory. They had to cover the garden-level windows so outsiders could not tell which room they were in. As they slept, some white guy quietly cut a huge hole in their room door, poked a machine gun in, and murdered them both as they slept. Terribly graphic and bloody. Awful.

Cruiser vs Sport Tourer in Rocky Mountains

Well, I am having a lot of trouble merging NMEA log files with my jpg files. In the mean time, I wanted to mention the difference between riding in the Rocky Mountains on a Honda VTX 1800 and Yamah FJR 1300, with a passenger.

As with any motorcycle, ascents are easier than descents. It was the descent where I noticed the difference. Ascents are easier because the suspension that provides power is compressed and stabilized by the counter forces of the engine. On the Honda cruiser, I had very little confidence in the front suspension. Perhaps the larger rake is to blame. With the Yamaha sport tourer, I as able to descend altitude much faster because the front wheel felt way more stable.
